Regard one another as more important than yourself (Part 2)

Growing together means that we help one another become more like Jesus Christ.

With our study of the book of Philippians our focus is:

"Regard one another as more important than yourself."

We are able to do this as we:

  • Connect together
  • Grow together
  • Display together

We saw that 'connecting together' means the building of relationships. We have a strong liking for one another and a genuine concern for one another. There's a willingness to die or suffer in the cause of Christ.

Growing Together means that we are progressing or advancing in the faith. We are growing in our relationship with Christ and with each other.

Growing together means that we help one another become more like Jesus Christ.

It means that we value:

  • Transformation
  • Together

Central to this growth is the gospel. We offer the gospel to individuals who don't know Christ as good news. It consists of:

  • God is the sovereign Creator
  • We are sinners
  • Christ is our substitutionary Savior
  • We must repent and believe in Christ.

We also seek to live worthily of the gospel, leading lives that bring praise to God. We do this together: as a church family on Sunday morning, within Sunday School classes, within Life Groups during the week.

Let me leave you with a couple of questions:

  • Is there evidence in your life that you are growing?
  • With whom are you growing?
